Domain Sherlock Purchase Price Algorithm
At Domain Sherlock we use an Algorithm to calculate the price of our domains.
We don't base the price on purely subjective opinions. Our prices actually
reflect a real value for the domains and the value is reflected in Search
Rankings.
The algorithm is represented as follows:
Purchase Price = 0.2 * POWER(PageRank, 5.15)
+ 3 * POWER(GoogleLinks, 0.7)
+ POWER(GooglePages, 0.45)
+ POWER(MsnLinks, 0.55)
+ POWER(MsnPages, 0.45)
+ POWER(YahooLinks, 0.5)
+ POWER(YahooPages, 0.45)
+ 25 * POWER(1000000.00/AlexaRank, 0.75)
+ 2 * POWER(Daily Hits, 0.6)
+ DomainBonus
Where:
Page Rank is a measure of the relevancy which Google places on
a domain. It is a logarithmic scale were 10 is the absolute best and 0 is
the worst.
Links refer to "backlinks" to the domain. It is a count of how
many links there are to a domain according to the different major search
engines.
Pages are a count of the amount of pages a domain has indexed
in the search engines.
Alexa Rank is a ranking of the amount of visitors (with an
Alexa toolbar) to a website, where 1 is the most visisted site (currently
yahoo) and the higher the number the fewer the visitors. There are about 5
Million websites in this ranking. Take note that sometimes sites are grouped
together and the value is given to all the domains in the group. In this case
the Alexa Ranking is not a true reflection of the visitors. That is why this
variable makes up a very small part of the Purchase Price.
Daily Hits are simply the amount of hits a domain receive
per day. Take note that it is not a measure of unique visitors per day.
Domain Bonus is the only subjective value in the
algorithm. It is used when a domain has a good name, when the domain is
generating revenue etc. This bonus value is completely up to the owner of the
domain.
